Endiro sent a small team out to the fishing village of Kesensero in Rakai District of Southern Uganda. HIV/AIDS infection rates are as high as 40% in this predominantly migrant area. Along with our friend, Wilbur Sargunaraj, and our hosts from the International Office of Migration we had a chance to scout out opportunities for future projects and to enter into the worlds of some amazing locals. Here is a reflection from Wilbur on the experience:
“Having an amazing time in Kasensero fishing village with my new friends Irene and Prossy. They have been sex workers here for a very long time and I had the chance to listen to their story. They are REALLY simple superstars! “Compassion requires us to be weak with the weak, vulnerable with the vulnerable, and powerless with the powerless. Compassion means full immersion in the condition of being human.”- Henri Nouwen”
